Summers in Boise can get HOT! But when the heat rises, Boise offers a variety of fun ways to beat the heat and cool off!

The Payette River

Idaho is known for its world-class rafting. The Payette River is only an hour’s drive from Boise and offers different routes ranging from class 1 to class 4 rapids. Several companies are based around the river and offer guided rafting excursions all summer long!

Boise River Float

If rapids aren't your speed then perhaps a scenic float along the Boise River may be of interest! There is an easy launch point at Barber Park for you to launch your own raft or intertube. Another option is to rent an intertube, which includes a bus ride back, from the raft and tube rental company at the park. The Boise River offers a relaxed and fun float along some of the most beautiful parts of Boise. There are many opportunities to stop and grab an ice cream or a bite to eat!

Esther Albertson Park

Boise is also home to a great white water park near downtown. The park offers small lakes connected by a river that is perfect for paddleboarding excursions. It even has a small wave generator to get your surfing fix met! If you don’t have your own equipment don’t worry. There is a convenient place to rent equipment next to the park that offers everything from rafts and paddleboards, to bikes and small boats!

Roaring Springs

Looking for a slip and slide on steroids? If so, Roaring Springs has that and more! Roaring Springs is an exhilarating water park that has been a prominent Treasure Valley attraction for years. The park has many different water slides, pools, and even a wave pool! If you are looking for a more laid-back experience, tubing the lazy river is a great way to relax for an afternoon.

Lucky Peak State Park

Lucky Peak is a short 10 to 20-minute drive from downtown Boise and offers something for everyone. This great park offers a sandy beach, boat docks, bike trails, volleyball, charcoal grills, disc golf, and of course swimming. Luck Peak is also the endpoint of the Boise Greenbelt and is a natural place to jump in the water after biking the trail.
