Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and you may be wondering what your plans should be. Sure, dinner and a movie are very nice, but it might be the year to change it up and really surprise your special someone. In fact, the Treasure Valley has an array of unique activities full of romance and fun that might become a regular date night for you and your partner. Whether you’re looking for something outdoorsy and true to the Treasure Valley, or something to really impress your date, there’s an abundance of choices. Let’s take a look!

  1. Something Outdoors

If you feel like getting some sun and exercise this Valentine’s Day, this event might just be for you. This Valentine’s event lets you run or walk the Greenbelt with a loved one(ones) and enjoy the great weather we’ve been having.

  • Romancing the Pen

    • Saturday February 14th, 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM

    • Idaho State Penitentiary

If you’re a hopeless romantic and history lover, dive right into the old tales of love that took place in the penitentiary with complimentary tours covering old love letters and stories.

This is the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with your partner while appreciating the gorgeous views in the area and getting creative with a fun meal or activity to bring.

Pick a hike you really enjoy or have been wanting to try, pack a lunch, bring some blankets and a fun activity to do at the top!

2. Get Crafty

  • Glass Blowing

    • There are many great glass studios around the Treasure Valley and this is a great activity to try a new skill and go a little out of your comfort zone!

  • Paint N Sip

    • This activity requires no skill, but can bring out the spontaneity in you! Just expect to have fun and get creative with your partner.

  • Thrifting

    • This one is a little out of the box, but can be quite fun and unique. Before you and your partner go to do an activity, find a local thrift store, pick out an outfit you’d love to see your partner in and go to your activity in what they picked out for you. This is a cheap activity that will surely make you laugh and create unforgettable memories.

      3. Let’s Get Fancy

Experience a five course meal  from renowned chefs Gina D’Orazio-Stryker and Adan Callsen, made from top of the line locally sourced ingredients. Enjoy beverages while touring the Museum’s Galleries, engaging with local farmers and learning the abundant history of Idaho’s agricultural evolution.

Take on downtown Boise for some dancing, Valentine’s day drink specials, free gifts, prizes and a live concert after party.  If you’re looking for a fun, lively night this Valentine’s Day, this is the event for you.

Get on your best vintage inspired Valentine’s look and dancing shoes for this event, dancing through the decades on the ballroom’s huge dance floor with the  High Street Band. Great music and a romantic atmosphere will ensure you and your partner have a great night.

4. Night in To Ourselves

  • Pizza Night

    • Want a nice dinner but don’t want to deal with the crowds and reservations? Opt in to making your own pizza at home and find your inner chef! Try some heart shaped pizza dough to really get into the spirit of Valentine’s Day.

  • Cocktails and Mocktails

    • Make a cocktail (or mocktail) for your significant other that you think they would really enjoy. This one can get really creative and you can try both of the delicious drinks you made for one another.

  • Board Games + Crafts

    • This one can be as casual as you want, either buying new board games or breaking out the ones you already have. For crafts, you can paint each other, paint ceramics, make fun items out of clay, embroider and so many more options!

    • Make it a whole thing:

      • Pick one light game and one deep game

      • Add wine/mocktails

      • Loser has to plan the next date

The Treasure Valley makes it pretty easy to switch things up. We have the views, the creativity, the food scene, the history and the energy to make this holiday feel a little more personal and a lot more memorable.

So maybe this is the year you try something new. Step a little outside your comfort zone. Start a new tradition. Make a story you’ll laugh about next year.

However you choose to celebrate, make it thoughtful, make it intentional, and most importantly,  make it yours.
