Can you feel it in the air?

See it in the trees around our beautiful Boise?

Yep, the temperatures are starting to cool and the leaves are turning that gorgeous orange and yellow.

It's time to start thinking about sweaters, fuzzy slippers and hot cocoa by the fire -- and delicious roasted veggies like butternut squash and beets or pies baked with love for you and your family.

The opportunities to bring farm fresh fruits and vegetables to your dinner table abound in Boise. We are blessed with a great number of farmers markets to fill up our pantries with produce and crafted specialty foods.

They're also a great place for crafts and art to freshen up your home décor.

The Platinum Idaho team encourages you to get out and support local farmers, food preparers, crafters and artisans.

Here are the markets we shop at most often:

FIND A FARMERS MARKET

Stock on fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables, preserves, crafts and so much more at many of the wonderful farmers markets around Boise and area.

Here's a list for happy hunting:

CAPITAL CITY PUBLIC MARKET

34th Street, Garden City

Wednesdays, 5-8 p.m.

Saturdays, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Operating since 1994, Idaho's largest outdoor farmers market runs twice a week well into December. The streets downtown near the Capitol shut down every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to make sure your experience is safe and enjoyable. The market moves to Grove Plaza for November and December with extended hours for your holiday shopping. Watch for amazing art, sculptures and mosaics from homegrown artisans. Boise's Best Kettle Korn is a can't miss, too!

BOISE FARMERS MARKET

1500 Shoreline Dr.

Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

The Boise Farmers Market aims to support a regenerative, healthy food and agricultural system with a vibrant marketplace full of locally grown and crafted products. In the time of COVID, the market is also offering a drive-thru pickup service every Tuesday and delivery service. Check it out! Fall is pie season so make sure you stop by the Black Kettle Pies booth.

MERIDIAN MAIN STREET MARKET

33 E. Broadway Ave., Meridian

Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Open until mid-October, the Meridian market gives you intimate access to the farmers who want to put wholesome, healthy vegetables on our plates. The Main Street Market used to be known as the Meridian Youth Farmers Market and its new organizers still place an emphasis on our young farmers, crafters and artisans. We can't help stopping at the Granny C's Bakery booth. (Are you seeing a trend here? Yes, we are all cursed with a sweet tooth at Platinum Idaho!)

EAGLE SATURDAY MARKET

185 E. State St., Eagle

Saturdays, 9 a.,.-2 p.m.

You know what makes the Eagle market an extra special experience? The live music. Wind your way through the booths at the historic Heritage Park and find an array of arts and crafts, herbs and flowers, veggies and fruits, and specialty foods. The market supports local microproducers if all ages and offerings. Find your new favorite small business at the Eagle market. Grab a steaming latte and a bag of beans at Top Dog Roastery. (See? We can skip the sweets … except that Marsh Cakes is always there and Greg's cookies are sooooo good.)

NAMPA FARMERS MARKET

Lloyd Square Park, Nampa

Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

The Nampa Farmers Market promises to bring you fresh, local produce and locally crafted products every week. Its organizers want to encourage you to learn about our agricultural industry in Boise and the entrepreneurship that makes our region the thriving community it is. The Chef at the Market -- this year being Michael Reagan -- is the standout feature of the Nampa market. You get to watch demonstrations and learn cooking tips and recipes using ingredients available at the market. Enjoy a cake pop from Nana's Pops while you're watching. (We give up on trying to hide our sweet teeth now.)

REMEMBER SOCIAL DISTANCING

We love the opportunity farmers markets give us to get to know the people behind our local food and agricultural industries -- and all the amazing crafters and artists from Boise, too. Just remember to maintain 6 feet of social distance and wear a mask, if required, to help stem the spread of coronavirus.

And if you go to one of the farmers markets let us know on our Facebook page what your amazing finds were. Or if you know of a market we haven't listed, tell us all about it!
