Rife with history, the South Boise Village is a delightfully quaint, electric neighborhood.

Bordered by Broadway and West Boise avenues, the community draws a diverse population because of its proximity to the downtown core and Boise State University.

Boise Avenue, you may recall, runs along the same route many settlers tackled along the  Trail.

If you can find a copy of The Blue Doorknob, an autobiography by Mary Jane Webb and a wonderful historical account of the area, you will learn lots about this pocket of Boise.

WHY BUY IN SOUTH BOISE VILLAGE

Homes in South Boise Village are often modestly priced, making them affordable and ideal for first-time buyers.

It's noted as a friendly area with a population of just over 2,000 people, a diverse mix of long-time residents and young families that are new to the area.

Buyers with whom our agents have spoken say they want to live in the area because it's close to the downtown, schools and the airport.

It's "charming" and "family-oriented," they've said.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED

South Boise Village is mostly a residential area but with downtown so close, who needs a business district?

The attraction to South Boise Village lies in its people and their well cared-for homes.

Let's see what the neighborhood has to offer:

Parks and Attractions

Manitou Park is the only greenspace within the boundaries of Southeast Boise Village and that's OK. It has a space for everyone.

Not only does it have a playground, pickleball, basketball and tennis courts, and open play areas, but it's also one of the best places for dog lovers. A little more than 5.1 acres of the entire 11-acre space are dedicated to an off-leash area for dogs to run and jump and play.

Lots of very mature trees provide plenty of shade for those extra-hot days under the Boise summer sun.

The one feature that's missing from Manitou is a swimming area. But that's nearby, too. Just jump to the other side of Broadway to Ivywild Park, an 18-acre space with an outdoor pool.

For year-round play, Southeast Boise Village is also home to Boise State's indoor tennis complex that holds six lit courts.

Shopping and Entertainment

Broadway Avenue is dotted with many of the shops you might need from The Human Bean or Black Rock Coffee for an espresso drink to Mister Car Wash and Jersey Mike's Subs.

Just down the road on Federal Way, you'll find all the big box stores to keep everyone fed and the house up to snuff. There's a Fred Meyer, a Petco, a Walgreens, a Home Depot and an IHOP.

Pancakes. Yum.

And let's not forget all the sporting events you can enjoy at Boise State University. Go Broncos!

Places of Worship

Only The Vice Squad Church lies within the boundaries of Southeast Boise Village but other places of worship are nearby, including:

Dining

When you're hungry all you have to do is jump in the car (or lace up your walking shoes) and hit Broadway. Don't be distracted by all those chain-food restaurants, though. There's lots of unique, delicious places to fill your belly.

Check out:

·       Mount Everest Momo Café for Himalyan/Nepalese cuisine

·       Han's Chimaek for super healthy Korean fare

·       Dong Khanh Vietnamese

·       Jalapeno's Bar and Grill for Mexican food

There's still more just on the other side of Federal Way. Over on S Vista, we've found:

·       Cucina Di Paolo for amazing Italian

·       BBQ4Life

·       Mr. Work (go for the bibimbap and ramen!)
