As the Idaho weather transitions from the hot summer months to cooler fall days, there’s no better way to take in the state’s natural beauty than a trip to one of the many beautiful hot springs destinations. There’s many different options of hot springs to visit in Idaho from easily accessible drive up locations to adventurous hikeable locations. We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite spots, but these are just some of the many hot springs you can find throughout Idaho.

Kirkham Hot Springs

One of the most popular and easily accessible hot springs near the city of Boise is Kirkham Hot Springs. With a variety of pools to choose from this destination is perfect for large groups. Located right off Highway 21 it is easily accessible by car and only around two hours out of town. This is a great place to visit for a quick day trip!

Gold Fork Hot Springs

This is one of the more spa-like hot springs near Boise. With constructed pools allowing naturally sourced water to flow through, these hot springs combine some of the best elements of an adventurous day in Idaho nature and a day at the spa. On site they do have changing rooms available and towels for rent.

Bonneville Hot Springs

For those with a more adventurous spirit, the Bonneville Hot Springs offer a very calm and discrete experience. Off Highway 21 you’ll find a trail leading to Bonneville campground with about a half mile of relatively flat terrain leading you to a series of beautiful riverside pools. These springs have naturally running water flowing into them off the cliff's edge.

Burgdorf Hot Springs

This is one you’ll want to plan a whole adventure around! While these hot springs are open year round, the best time to visit is during the winter months when they’re only accessible by snowmobile. You can rent snowmobiles in McCall and enjoy a 30 minute ride along a beautiful mountain trail to this desolate destination. There’s food and drink for sale when you get there and even cabins for rent if you’re interested in staying overnight. The hot spring itself is about the size of an Olympic swimming pool with naturally sourced water. This is the ideal location to make a weekend trip out of!

The Springs at Idaho City

The Springs at Idaho City offers more of a resort-like hot springs experience. On site they have a large community hot springs area as well as private hot springs available for rent. Along with the hot springs they also offer plenty of other amenities such as food and drinks available pool side and a sauna to add an extra warm element to your experience. If you plan on visiting it’s highly recommended that you make reservations in advance and take advantage of their private pools.

These are just some of the more accessible hot springs right outside the Boise City limits, however, Idaho has a plethora of hot springs scattered throughout the state!
