It’s the middle of August which means we’re in the middle of Farmer’s Market season.

Being an export leader in dairy products and fresh produce among others come with a lot of benefits. One of these is an abundance of farmers’ markets that set up shop between the months of April through October. This means that the local producers can handle the population’s fresh produce needs.

This year, Meridian Main Street Market, one of the Farmers’ Markets in Treasure Valley, is open from April until mid-October. They uphold the age-old tradition of consumers meeting the producers in a vibrant marketplace where community residents can purchase healthy foods and handcrafted items.

This vibrant mix of sellers of a myriad of items from fresh produce, hand-made foodstuff, clothes, and art used to be known as the Meridian Youth Farmers’ Market. The organizers still put a premium on young farmers, crafters, and artisans below 18 years old and want to start earning money from their passions.

1500 Shoreline Drive, Boise ID 83702

With the aim to support a regenerative, healthy food and agricultural system with a vibrant marketplace full of locally grown and crafted products, the Boise Farmers’ Market was founded in 2013. Their guidelines even state that majority of the members must be agricultural. 95% of the vendors are food and agricultural products with 5% dedicated to non-food items.

They stand true to their by-line of “Farmers you can trust. Food you can trace.

This market focuses on showcasing local food and produce and values the value of a community space that empowers its members to learn about food and sustainability.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses had to develop alternative methods of conducting business. This rings true for Boise Farmers’ Market as well. They created their drive-thru market. They say they want their customers who can’t participate in their regular farmers' market to continue to have access to nutritious and delicious local food.

You can also check out their Mobile Market which has been operating since 2015. It helps improve the nutritional wellness of the community while supporting local agriculture. Check out their website for specifics regarding this convenient way of getting your produce.
